Product liability law is an area of law that provides for compensation when someone is injured by a defective product. Generally, a personal injury lawyer has to prove the product was unreasonably dangerous, was negligently designed, negligently manufactured, or did not have proper warnings.

Even if the operator of the device was negligent, the manufacturer may still bear some of the responsibility. Manufacturers have the duty to foresee reasonable misuses of a product and design it to be safe when it is misused.
