Yamaha Rhino ATV® – Recall
The Yamaha Rhino ATV® (All Terrain Vehicle) has received criticism for years regarding its high rollover rate and likelihood to cause serious injury to its drivers. Recently, this vehicle has received even more attention with the recall of the 2008 Rhino YXR450 and YXR700, which were sold nationwide from October of 2007 through March of 2008. Yamaha issued the recall alert due to concerns regarding brake fluid leaking from a possible manufacturing defect in the brake caliper on the left front wheel. The loss of brake fluid this defect may cause can result in a loss of braking capabilities and a loss of vehicle control.
If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident involving a Yamaha Rhino ATV, an attorney at Distasio Law Firm may be able to help. By consulting an attorney, you can find out if you may have a defective product issue on your hands. You may be able to receive monetary compensation for the injuries you have suffered.
The Yamaha Rhino® – A Dangerous ATV?
The Yamaha Rhino ATV® is designed in such a way as to be susceptible to rollover, even under what might be considered relatively safe conditions for a turn: at a slow speed and on a flat surface. The Rhino is top heavy and has a narrow wheel base; additionally, passengers’ legs are left rather unprotected. This means that when a rollover does occur, it can easily result in broken and crushed bones and even amputation. Death may even be caused due to a Rhino rollover, particularly in the case of younger, smaller passengers and drivers. With the recent issue regarding the brakes on the Rhino 450 and 700, Yamaha has issued a recall asking consumers to take their vehicles to an authorized Yamaha Rhino dealer for a free repair.
